To sleep off a hangover, to recover from a night of drinking by staying in bed all morning. In Argentina this is almost a national tradition — a ritual of consequence that comes after every good night out.
To play dumb or pretend not to know something to dodge responsibility. In Argentina the person who 'se hace el sota' feigns ignorance about what they know perfectly well. A classic lunfardo art form.
An open bar — unlimited drinks at a party or restaurant for a fixed price. In Argentina the canilla libre is the perfect excuse to drink everything you can. Essential at weddings and birthday parties.
A large bottle of beer, usually a liter or more. In Argentina a porrón of beer is the standard unit of measurement for an asado or a pre-party. If there's a porrón, there's a celebration.
An untamed animal or a rough, wild person without any manners. In Argentina and Uruguay 'bagual' describes someone uneducated or difficult to deal with. Also a wild, unbroken horse of the pampas.
