A clumsy, careless, sloppy person who does things badly without paying attention. The 'chambón' isn't mean — they just can't seem to execute anything properly. They spill, drop, misread instructions, and finish everything slightly broken or sideways. Lovably incompetent.
Someone who got a job, promotion, or advantage through connections rather than merit. In Spain, the 'enchufado' didn't get there on talent — they knew the right person, had the right uncle, or said the right thing at the right dinner. The enchufado system is as old as Spain itself.
A white blackbird — something extraordinarily rare, practically mythical. In Spain a mirlo blanco is the one-in-a-million exception to the rule.
To die, kick the bucket, or stop working altogether. In Spain, 'palmarla' is how you refer to death when you want zero sentimentality — direct, slightly dark, and utterly Spanish in its refusal to dress things up. Also used for objects that finally give out after years of use.
To show off, brag, or put your best stuff on display so others admire you. In Spain, 'fardar' is unapologetically showing what you've got — the new car, the vacation photos, the outfit. It's not exactly humble, but it's not necessarily rude either. Everyone farda a little.
