Meaning

In Chile, to snitch or rat someone out to an authority figure or someone who shouldn't know. A buchón betrays trust by telling what they know in order to get someone in trouble.

Examples

Don't rat out your classmate over something small, nobody will want to talk to you after.

He got caught because someone snitched to the principal.

Regional synonyms

To forcibly take someone's belongings, especially their car or motorcycle in a street robbery. In Mexico it's the term police and street speakers use for a violent vehicle carjacking.
