Meaning

Mexican slang for hanging tough through a hard stretch. Telling someone "aguanta vara" means "hold on a little longer" and is used to encourage someone who is close to giving up.

We are almost done with the shift, aguanta vara just a bit more.

Things were rough back then but we held on and pushed through.
