Meaning

Chicano Spanglish for a down payment on a credit purchase, straight from English "down payment." El daun is that first big chunk of cash you put down on a truck or an apartment.

Examples

I saved up for the daun on the truck, I'll pay the rest over time.

They were asking for a really high daun on the apartment.

Regional synonyms

An adverb used in Mexico (and among Mexican-Americans in the U.S.) to stress that something is completely true or purely authentic. It comes from "neta" (the truth). It adds a "no cap, straight up" kind of emphasis.
