Meaning

Chicano Spanglish for the job site supervisor or crew boss, from the English "foreman." He's the one who assigns the work, sets the pace, and who you report to on construction sites, farm labor, or factory floors.

Examples

The foreman said we're staying late today.

If you show up late again the foreman is going to fire you.

Regional synonyms

A simple, unpretentious person who is easy to be around and treats everyone the same regardless of class or status. In Colombia and Venezuela someone campechano makes no distinctions between people.
