Meaning

In Mexico, to feel uncomfortable, weird, or out of place in a situation. When someone se siente x, they are a bit embarrassed or disoriented and not quite at ease.

Examples

I felt awkward when I showed up to the party and didn't know anyone.

It feels weird to ask for favors, but I had no other choice.

Regional synonyms

Someone from a privileged background who has never had to struggle, and it shows. In Mexico, cachetón carries a tone of light envy: this person has the latest car, new clothes, and a face that has never worried about a paycheck. Not necessarily flashy, but the comfort is obvious.
