Meaning

Mexican expression for being completely broke, without even the smallest coin. "Sin un quinto" means you have absolutely nothing in your pockets.

Examples

I was left sin un quinto after paying rent.

Don't ask him for a loan - he is just as broke as you are.

Regional synonyms

Something of poor quality, bad, or completely useless. In Chile, calling something a "charcha" is the equivalent of calling it trash. Works for food, movies, products, service, or anything that disappoints and is not worth the time or money.
