A person who gets wide-eyed at the slightest thing, or someone who freezes up and stops reacting to what's happening around them. Stunned and unable to process.
That dark, twisted attraction to things that should repel you — the morbid curiosity that makes you slow down at an accident or read every detail of a disturbing story. In Spain, morbo is also sexual chemistry with an edge of the forbidden. It's not quite wrong, but it's definitely not innocent.
The embarrassment one feels when witnessing something ridiculous or shameful that another person does, even if that person doesn't care. This type of embarrassment can be worse than one's own.
A small huddle of people gossiping or chatting in a circle — that scene in the hallway or office where a group gathers to whisper about everyone else. In Spain, corrillo is the unofficial institution of social life, where rumors are born and everyone pretends not to notice.
Completely settled in and comfortable somewhere with zero intention of moving — like you've taken root. In Spain, apalancado describes that person who's been parked on the sofa for three hours, or the houseguest who's been around for two weeks and clearly isn't leaving.
