To go completely off the rails, sink, or fall apart with nothing to be done about it. Borrowed from sailing (a ship adrift with no control), irse al garete describes a project, relationship, or plan that's beyond saving.
In Spain, a zoquete refers to someone who is clumsy, lacking common sense, or unable to understand something despite being explained it multiple times. This term is often used to describe someone who consistently makes mistakes or causes problems, especially at the worst possible moment.
To crack up, burst out laughing, lose it completely. In Spain partirse de risa is the laugh that doubles you over, leaves you gasping and makes everyone around you start laughing too.
To get by, survive, or keep going with what you've got — no luxuries, no complaints. It's the philosophy of making do and pushing forward even when things aren't great.
To be conspicuous by one's absence: standing out precisely because you are not there, when the lack of someone is noticed more than their presence would have been. Sometimes not showing up speaks louder than any speech ever could.
