Meaning

Chicano Spanglish for the city block or neighborhood block, from English "block." "The people from the bloque" are the folks you grew up with; your bloque is your identity and turf.

I've lived on this bloque my whole life - I'm not moving.

We went out to walk around the bloque and see what's up.

Regional synonyms

A boring, uptight person with no personality who doesn't know how to have fun. In Mexico, a 'mamila' is the one who declines every invitation, goes to bed at 10pm, and judges everyone else's life choices from their couch. Not malicious, just aggressively dull.
