Something in terrible shape, awful quality, or completely unpleasant in Mexico. When something 'está pal perro' you're better off staying far away, whether it's food, a situation, or someone's mood.

Examples

The movie is pal perro.

The weather is pal perro, it hasn't stopped raining.

Word family

To dodge, avoid, or sidestep someone or something you do not want to confront. In Mexico the bullfighting metaphor is perfect: the matador evades the bull without finishing it off. Someone who "torea" you keeps ducking the issue without ever resolving it.
