Meaning

Paraguayan exclamation of mild annoyance or surprise, borrowed from Guarani. Similar to saying "ugh" or "damn" when something bugs you or catches you off guard, without being a strong swear word.

Examples

Ugh, the power went out again in this heat.

Ugh, this traffic, I'm never going to make it.

Regional synonyms

An informal Mexican greeting, a contraction of '¿Qué hubo?' (what's been up). It's the most street-level, direct way to greet someone you're close with.
