Bandera de Paraguay

/Sounds like "poo-REH-teh"/

A Paraguayan expression for saying something is great, high quality, excellent, or amazing. It comes from the concept of "pure" and became the go-to compliment in Paraguayan Spanish. It works for clothes, music, food, people, plans: anything worth praising. "Qué purete" is the Paraguayan way of saying "how cool" or "how awesome" without borrowing slang from any neighboring country.

Example

"Esa camiseta está bien purete. → That shirt is really tight."

"Fue una noche purete. → It was an awesome night."
