/Sounds like "SAH-foh"/
A shout of immunity that gets you out of doing something nobody wants to do. In Mexico there is an unwritten rule (playful, but universally respected) where the first person to yell "¡Safo!" is exempt from the task, and everyone who didn't say it fast enough is stuck doing it. It works for cleaning, errands, paying the bill, and any situation where someone has to take one for the team. Speed is everything.
"¿Quién va por las cervezas a la tienda? ¡Safo! → Who's going to the store for beers? Safo! (Not me!)"
"Hay que lavar los trastes. ¡Safo! A ti te toca. → Someone has to wash the dishes. Safo! You're stuck with it."
