Meaning

In Ecuador, an ironic expression dropped when something goes wrong or someone gets what they deserve. Equivalent to "serves you right" or "there you go, that's what you get." Popular in social media among young people.

Examples

They lost for being so cocky, serves them right.

Serves you right, that's what you get for not studying in time.

Regional synonyms

A kid or child in Costa Rica. Be careful though, in Mexico 'güila' has a completely different and derogatory meaning referring to a promiscuous woman.
