An alcoholic drink, a shot, or a round of drinks. In all of Latin America, tomarse un trago is the go-to social plan — it's the ritual that bookends the week, seals deals, and keeps friendships alive.
To waste time, slack off, or mess with someone. In Chile, Peru, and Ecuador, 'huevear' covers everything from harmless goofing around to seriously annoying someone. Context is everything — with friends it's playful, in serious moments it's a real complaint.
A person who dresses elegantly and pretentiously, acting as if they're upper class. In Uruguay and Chile a futre is overdressed and walks around like they own the place.
Chill, relaxed, no drama, everything's fine. The shortened version of 'tranquilo' used across Argentina, Uruguay, and Chile, 'tranqui' is the verbal equivalent of a casual wave — it says 'relax, don't stress, we're good here' without wasting syllables.
An embarrassing or ridiculous moment that exposes you in front of everyone. In Argentina, making a 'papelón' is social death — you tripped, said something wrong, or got caught in a lie and now everyone saw it. The cringe lives forever.
