A proverb meaning no problem lasts forever. Used to comfort someone going through a rough patch: everything passes, even the worst situations have an expiration date. The full version in Spanish adds "nor a body that can withstand it," which gives it an extra kick of dark humor.

Examples

Ya va a pasar, no hay mal que cien años dure. (It will pass, nothing bad lasts forever.)

Tranquilo, no hay mal que cien años dure ni cuerpo que lo resista. (Relax, nothing bad lasts forever, and nobody lives long enough to see it through anyway.)

Regional synonyms

To be hungover in Mexico, dealing with the brutal aftermath of drinking too much the night before. Headache, nausea, regret, the whole package. 'Crudo' literally means 'raw,' which perfectly captures how exposed and wrecked you feel the morning after a night out.
