/Sounds like the English word "parlot" + "eh" (as in "egg") + "AHR" (as in "art")/

Meaning

To chatter away about nothing in particular, filling the air with words that lead nowhere. Slightly dismissive in tone: it is not real conversation, just noise. The kind of talking where two hours pass and you walk away with nothing useful at all.

Examples

He will not stop babbling through the whole class and the teacher is already fed up.

They spent two hours chattering about absolutely nothing.

Word family

To move on from something in the past and keep going without holding a grudge. The emotional equivalent of closing a chapter: you acknowledge what happened and then deliberately leave it behind. Common across Argentina, Uruguay, and Chile.
