Bandera de Puerto Rico

/Sounds like "reh-voh-LOO"/

Disorder, uproar, total chaos, or out-of-control party in Puerto Rican Spanish. "Qué revolú hay en la casa" means what a mess there is at home. The word describes both the Saturday party with music blasting and the Monday family drama when everyone showed up angry. An expressive word, very Boricua, that captures chaos with affection and humor at once.

Example

"Los nenes dejaron un revolú en la sala. → The kids left a mess in the living room."

"Qué revolú se armó en el cumpleaños. → What a wild scene at the birthday party."

Regional synonyms:

Someone who falls asleep anywhere at any time. Used in Mexico to describe that person who passes out no matter the setting, whether it is at a party, on public transport, or in the middle of a conversation. A heavy sleeper with zero shame about it.
