/Sounds like "choo-PAHR"/

A Peruvian, Bolivian, and Chilean verb meaning to drink alcohol, especially in significant amounts. "Salimos a chupar" means we went out to seriously drink. Not a casual glass: chupar implies quantity, multiple rounds, extended night. Used daily in Andean and South American speech to describe the most common weekend social activity. A word with no ambiguity: when someone says they're going to chupar, the night will be long.

Example

"Anoche salimos a chupar. → Last night we went out drinking hard."

"Se chupó todo el pisco. → He drank all the pisco by himself."
