/Sounds like "foo" (as in "food") + "FOO" (as in "food")/

Meaning

Something of poor quality, cheap, or not worth what it claims to be. In Cuba, Puerto Rico, and the Dominican Republic, "fufú" describes anything with a deceptive appearance: looks okay on the outside, disappoints the moment you actually use it.

Examples

Ese celular es un fufú, se rompe con cualquier golpe. (That phone is a piece of junk, it breaks at the slightest bump.)

Le regalé algo fufú porque no tenía presupuesto. (I gave him something cheap because I didn't have the budget for anything better.)

Regional synonyms

Wasted or hammered in Colombian slang, describing someone who can no longer coordinate their words or their steps. Being jincho means you've crossed the line of what's socially acceptable at a gathering and started embarrassing yourself without even realizing it.
