A scam, shady deal, or setup designed to rip someone off. In Argentina and Uruguay, "guiso" (which literally means stew) is used to describe any situation where someone is trying to cheat you out of your money. If someone says something is a guiso, stay far away because you're about to get played.
"Ese sorteo es un guiso, no le entres. -> That raffle is a scam, don't get into it."
"Le armaron un guiso al viejo y le sacaron todos los ahorros. -> They set up a scam on the old man and took all his savings."
