Bandera de Nicaragua

/Sounds like "hoh-DAH-rree-ah"/

A Nicaraguan word for problem, tangle, mess, or complicated situation. Comes from "joder" but sounds less vulgar: it's the trouble you leave sweating from, the mess keeping you up at night, the work that got complicated. Used daily on the street, at work, at home: "qué jodarria esta semana" is the universal Nicaraguan complaint.

Example

"Qué jodarria con el carro. → What a pain with the car."

"Se metió en una jodarria grande. → He got into a serious mess."
