Bandera de Panamá

/Sounds like "PREE-tee"/

The Panamanian phonetic adaptation of English "pretty," meaning cute, nice, good-looking. It's used for people, things, places, situations: anything you find aesthetically pleasing. "Qué priti ese vestido" (how pretty that dress is) or "esa muchacha está priti" (that girl is pretty) are everyday phrases in Panamanian Spanish. It's one of many anglicisms that entered local Spanish through Canal influence, American bases, and broader cultural presence.

Example

"Qué priti está esa casa. → How pretty that house is."

"Esa muchacha está bien priti. → That girl is really pretty."
