Bandera de Honduras

/Sounds like "bah-YOO-sah"/

A big bash, wild party, or total mess in Honduran Spanish. A bayusa is more than a normal party: it implies lots of people, loud music, food, drinks, and organized chaos. You throw a bayusa when you're really celebrating something: birthdays, promotions, reunions. It can also be pejorative: "qué bayusa dejaste en la cocina" to describe a disaster after a heavy night.

Example

"Armamos una bayusa en la casa de Marcos. → We threw a wild party at Marcos's."

"Qué bayusa quedó el patio. → What a mess the yard ended up."
