/Sounds like "boh" (as in "boat") + "loh" (as in "loan") + "LOH" (as in "loan")/

A big chaotic mess, total disorder. In Venezuela, "se armó un bololó" means everything went sideways at once: a fight broke out, the party got out of control, or traffic turned into a nightmare. Any situation where multiple things are going wrong simultaneously.

Examples

Se armó un bololó en el cumpleaños cuando llegó el ex sin avisar. (A huge scene broke out at the birthday party when the ex showed up unannounced.)

Qué bololó hay en la calle, no se puede ni pasar. (What a mess out there on the street, you can't even get through.)

Word family

A monumental social blunder or deeply embarrassing moment with no graceful exit. In Spain, Argentina, Uruguay, and Chile, a planchazo is the kind of mistake people bring up for years, the story that refuses to die.
