/Sounds like "ehs" (as in "egg") + "TAHR" (as in "tar") + "kah" (as in "car") + "LYEHN" + "teh" (as in "ten")/

Meaning

To be furious, livid, completely over the edge with anger. In Argentina and Uruguay it means pure rage. Important note: in other Spanish-speaking countries the same phrase can mean sexually aroused, so context is everything when using this one outside the Southern Cone.

Examples

I'm absolutely furious at the ref, they clearly stole the match from us.

She was livid when they canceled her flight without any explanation.

In Spain, being in a casual, undefined romantic situation with someone. Not dating officially, not just friends either. It's that in-between zone where you're clearly into each other but nobody's put a label on it yet. Closest English equivalent: "talking to someone" or being in a situationship.
