/Sounds like "PLOHP" (as in "plow")/

Meaning

An expression of shock or bewilderment, like being left completely speechless by something unexpected. It comes from the Chilean and Argentine comic strip Condorito, where characters literally fall flat on the ground with a 'plop' when something absurd happens. Used when reality hits you so hard you don't even know how to respond.

Examples

He told me he wasn't going and I was left speechless.

The answer was so bad I just went plop.

When nothing goes your way and it feels like the universe has a personal grudge against you. In Mexico and Spain, the image is religious: your patron saint has literally turned their back on you, leaving you to fend for yourself against an endless streak of bad luck.
