Meaning

To be really nervous or scared about something you cannot control. Used all over Latin America to describe that anxious, shaky feeling before a big exam, a job interview, or any high-stakes moment. Sometimes used as a warning: "whoever is not ready should be scared."

Examples

I was literally shaking before walking into the interview.

Whoever didn't study should be scared, because that exam was no joke.

A long, intense party night that stretches on for hours or even days without stopping. Going on a parranda means not coming home until your body says enough and the sun has been up for hours.
