/Sounds like "DAH" (as in "dart") + "leh" (as in "let") + "PWEHS"/

Meaning

An expression of agreement or confirmation used across Central America, especially Guatemala. It is the local equivalent of Mexico's "órale": you say "dale pues" to confirm plans, close a casual deal, or simply agree to something with warmth.

Examples

¿Nos vemos a las siete? Dale pues, ahí estaré.

Meet at seven? Sure thing, I'll be there.

Dale pues, te ayudo con eso sin problema.

Sure, I'll help you with that, no problem at all.

A Costa Rican expression for being out of the loop, missing information that everyone else already knows. "Estás detrás del palo, mae" tells someone they arrived late to reality. Used half-teasing, half-affectionate, depending on how close you are to the person.
